What are some of the solutions to prevent getting pregnant?
You hear about teen pregnancy in movies, news, school, on MTV ( 16 and Pregnant & Teen Moms) and of course from our parents. You should already know it's not a good idea to have a baby if you're not ready, so why are many teens still getting pregnant every year? What can you do to prevent it from happening to you? "How to avoid a teen pregnancy," by the American Pregnancy Association provides you a guide to avoid it.
Step 1:
"Don't give in to peer pressure. Many teenagers can feel left behind when their friends start to have boyfriends or start having sex. Those who have started doing it tend to talk about it making others feel pressured to also do it so they fit in." However, don't let that get to you, instead wait until you think you have found the right person and the right time.
Step 2:
"Learn to say "No". This includes saying no to anything you feel is uncomfortable with, such as refusing to have a boyfriend, have any kind of physical contact, or sex without protection." It's always good to stand up for yourself if no one else will do it for you. It takes courage, but you will eventually get it.
Step 3:
"ALWAYS use protection. Remember any type of sexual intercourse can cause pregnancy."
Step 4:
Talk to someone that is mature and wise about this topic. For example, your parents can be the first people to talk to about pregnancies.
